Our story
MAREZ was born from a shared belief: movement has the power to connect people more deeply to themselves and to each other. Founded by married choreographers and educators Darlyn Perez and Brodie Rachelle Masse, MAREZ is the meeting point of two artistic journeys shaped across countries, cultures, and stages around the world.
From Miami to London, Canada to Europe, their careers have taken them through some of the most influential spaces in contemporary dance — performing, choreographing, and teaching internationally while collaborating with renowned artists, companies, and institutions. Along the way, they discovered that the work that mattered most wasn’t perfection — it was honesty. Human connection. Emotional freedom. The courage to move authentically.
Together, they created MAREZ as a space where artistry and individuality come first. Their work blends athleticism with vulnerability, structure with exploration, and technical excellence with emotional depth. Whether creating new works, mentoring young artists, or building immersive training experiences, their mission remains the same: to help dancers feel more connected, fearless, and fully themselves.
Their choreography has been presented internationally at festivals and institutions including Peridance Center, DUMBO Dance Festival, and Art Basel, while also creating work for companies and artists across the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. Darlyn’s performance career includes dancing with Rambert2 and collaborations with artists such as Emma Portner, while Brodie has spent over a decade mentoring dancers internationally through conventions, conservatories, and creative intensives.
At its core, MAREZ is more than a company. It is a creative home built on trust, curiosity, and transformation — a place where movement becomes a language for growth, expression, and connection.
